About Polly Swann

I am an image maker concentrating on portraiture and documentary photography.

I am particularly interested in creating pictures that explore mental health, wellbeing and self-reflection in a non-exploitative and non-romanticised way. I take inspiration from literature and music and my work explores concepts of light and dark, movement, and distortion.

Photography is not just about taking pictures, it is a way of documenting and educating. It is also a conversation between photographer and subject and the building of a relationship whist creating a safe space. These connections are what inspire me and they inform the stories I want to tell.
